Nova-Sile Plus® is a food grade bacteria based inoculant designed for use on all ensiled forages and contains Lactococcus lactis, subspecies lactis which produces a broad spectrum natural antimicrobial called Nisin as well as lactic acid. Nisin produced during silage fermentation acts to inhibit spoilage organisms (yeast, mold, clostridia). Nisin, along with good silo face management, helps maintain silage quality during feed out, providing greater aerobic stability.
Nova-Sile Plus® ferments forages very quickly, scavenging oxygen while rapidly producing predominantly lactic acid. These features result in greater energy retention when compared to heterofermentative bacteria like Lactobacillus buchneri that use valuable nutrients for fermentation. Palatability of silages treated with HLAB Nova-Sile Plus® are higher due to the predominant production of lactic acid and lower acetic acid levels than silages treated with heterofermentative L. buchneri incoculants, as they produce less palatable acetic acid.
Nova-Sile Plus® is a value added inoculant that contains food grade Lactococcus lactis and Pediococcus acidilactici and is packaged at our Safe Feed/Safe Food facility in heat-sealed, foil-lined pouches that exclude moisture, oxygen and UV light thus preserving the lactic bacteria viability.
